Unfortunately, I don’t currently have any workshops scheduled. However, dependent on which workshops you are interested in, you may want to talk to your boss, church, or other organization you are connected with about hosting one and we can schedule one. Alternatively, if you think counseling could be helpful, I am currently accepting new clients. If you are interested feel free to email me at erricocounselingservices@gmail.com

But just because you’re super busy doesn’t mean you’re being productive. You’re actually guilty of a subtle form of procrastination known as priority dilution. This means you are distracted from focusing on your most important work. But it’s not your fault that you’re getting consumed with all these small disruptions. Your brain is actually hardwired to handle them. Here’s the science behind managing the small disruptions so you can be more productive. […]

Comment on Trauma “Re-wires” Your Brain Part 2: The Hippocampus by Ashley Errico http://www.ashleyerrico.com/2015/06/trauma-re-wires-your-brain-part-2-the-hippocampus/#comment-258 Mon, 28 Sep 2015 04:43:15 +0000 http://www.new.ashleyerrico.com/?p=552#comment-258 In reply to Joan burga.

Great question and yes it is possible, however it has to be undone the same way it was done, if that makes sense. We are finding more and more evidence of the neuroplasticity (ability to change) of the brain over the life span.

Just like trauma wired the brain to process information through the amygdala first, it has to be Re-wired to process information through the hippocampus first. That is done most effectively through talk therapy over a long period of time. Regardless of what therapeutic intervention is used, it is through the therapeutic relationship that healing comes. A trauma brain has to develop a healthy and secure attachment with someone that can be trusted to stay solid even when it feels like the whole world is collapsing.

I hope that answered your question and please feel free to contact me for further clarification!

Is it possible to quiet or bypass the amygdala in situations that don’t normally cause most people to over react to.
